From Park Ranger to Recreation Planner to Photographer
I have worked and lived in National Parks, Forest Service, and Bureau of Land Management protected areas since 1984. I have learned that photography is more than a snapshot in time. The saying "a picture says a thousand words" may be true, but a photographic image has the potential to capture feelings, stories, and a deep connection in us that goes beyond words. Images can visually provide us with a "sense of place" instantly, and invoke a flood of memories. They also can compel us through education and a conviction of the heart to protect wild places, including the natural and cultural landscapes within them. A photo has the power to transport us to another place or take us on an unimaginable journey.
The images assembled here represent a vignette of a lifetime of exploring and learning about creation, both the natural and cultural world. It is a work in progress . . . enjoy!
